Abstract: Regular maps are objects which lie at the intersection of geometry, combinatorics & algebra. They are highly symmetrical and objects which are not only interesting in their own right but also because of the many connections they have with other fields of mathematics. In this talk we will introduce the idea of regular maps and why they are of interest. We will also discuss some highlight results and open problems to do with regular maps, and finally some possible approaches to solving them.
